Aircraft
Berlin currently has. Two airports; Berlin Tegel Airport (TXL) and Berlin Schönefeld Airport (SXF). They are at each end of the city, and depending on which you land in, there are different ways to get to and from the center of Berlin.
Transport from Tegel Airport to the center of Berlin
If you arrive by plane in Berlin Tegel you can take the airport bus TXL to the center of Berlin. The bus stops at Berlin Hauptbahnhof (Central Station) and drives all the way to Alexanderplatz.
Transport from Schönefeld Airport to the center of Berlin
If you arrive by plane to Berlin Schönefeld you have several different transport options. You can take S-Bahn, Regional Train, Bus or which I think is the easiest Airport Express train that runs twice an hour.
Berlin has for several years been building a new large airport – Berlin Brandenburg Airport – which should have been opened in 2011, but which continues to wait.

Train
If arriving by train to Berlin, your first meeting with Berlin will be the great Berlin Hauptbahnhof. From here you can get around Berlin via Berlin’s huge public transport system. If you are out well in advance, you can get relatively cheap tickets with DB which is Germany’s pendant to DSB.
Public transport in the center of Berlin
Once you have arrived in Berlin, it is quite easy to get around Berlin through their public transport system with, among other things. U-Bahn, S-Bahn or Trams.
I would clearly recommend that you buy aBerlin Welcome Card, which gives free access to transport-U-Bahn, bus, train and tram throughout Berlin. 1 Berlin Welcome Card is valid for 1 adult and 3 children between the ages of 6-14, and you can buy from 48 hours to applicable for 6 days. When buying your Berlin Welcome Card, you must be aware that you can get a card that applies to the zones AB and ABC. If you fly to and/or from Berlin Schönefeld Airport, buy a card that applies to the Zones ABC.
At the same time, the card gives you a discount for more than 200 attractions and sights in Berlin. Buy the card from home, print the voucher and pick up the card when you arrive in Berlin. Remember to activate the card the first time you use public transport by stamping it in the ticket machine either inside the bus or on train state.
