If you want to enjoy the tulips at home next spring, you can buy flower bulbs and have them sent home.
Plan your visit to Keukenhof
PĂĄ grund af den korte blomstringsperiode er parken kun ĂĄben ca. 6 weeks a year – from end of March to mid -May. The best time to visit the park on is in mid -April when most flower bulbs have sprung out. We visited Keukenhof at the end of April, and here the park itself was still beautiful and colorful, but unfortunately the tulip fields behind the mill had already been removed.
The park is open from 8am to 7pm, but came earlier than 10.30am or later than 16.00, so you avoid arriving with most bus companies. The park is large, so expect at least 2.5 hours in the park.
Keukenhof is one of the biggest tourist attractions in the Netherlands, and if you visit the park from Thursday to Sunday, prepare for the park to be full of tourists. Monday to Wednesday, however, is less busy days.
Businesses for the park
It costs 17 euros when purchased online and 18 euros at the entrance. If you choose one of the bus tours, you should expect approx. 274 kr. person. 274 Danish kroner per person.

The weather plays a crucial role
Keukenhof can be visited in all kinds of weather, but the best time is of course in the sunshine where you can really admire the beautiful flowers. You can be unlucky with bad weather the day you take in the park, so buy a ticket that can be canceled at least 24 hours in advance, avoiding a really sad and rainy day in the park. When we visited the park at the end of April, the weather was unfortunately not very good. It was raining all the way to the park in the bus, and when we arrived it was overcast. We were lucky that it kept dry while we were in the park and it only rained again when we left the park.
Keukenhof is located approx. 50 minutes from the center of Amsterdam and you can get there by bus, train or car. Several travel agencies arrange bus trips to Keukenhof from Amsterdam’s center, but in fact you can also visit the park directly from Schiphol Airport, where buses go to and from Keukenhof daily.
Tours to the park are very popular, so it will be a good idea to book tickets from home.
You can choose a “closed” journey, which means you go there and return home at a certain time. Otherwise, you can choose a ticket type that applies to a specific day, but you decide when you want to leave that day. We decided to book a “closed” journey where there were specific departure and return times. This meant that we had approx. 3 hours in the park, which I have to say is very nice.

Rent a bike, and go for a walk to see the flower fields very close to. The garden
is surrounded by large, impressive tulip fields, so if you want to see even more flowers, you can rent a bike from the main entrance and cycle out into the huge area and explore the tulip fields up close. Although there are plenty of images on different social media by bloggers taking selfies in the fields, it is actually illegal to enter the tulip fields as you step on the flowers.
