Amsterdam’s best drinks and panoramic views – Skylounge Amsterdam

During our last visit to Amsterdam, we were not very lucky with the weather. It was mostly gray and rainy. However, we were so lucky that the sun was shining the day we arrived, which we took advantage of with a visit to Skylounge Amsterdam. After a long day of museum visits and shopping, it’s a perfect place to take a little break. You can have lunch or as we did just enjoy the amazing panoramic view while enjoying one of their exquisite drinks.

It is not a cheap place, but in my opinion it is clearly all the money worth going up there.

Skylounge Amsterdam is part of the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel Amsterdam Central, and although it belongs to the hotel, it is open to anyone who wants to enjoy the nearly 360 degree panoramic views of Amsterdam.

To get up to Skylounge Amsterdam, go into the hotel lobby and take the elevator up on the 11th floor. At Skylounge Amsterdam you can sit indoors or out on the roof terrace.

It is not possible to book a table unless you are 20 people or more, so it’s just about being lucky, getting a good table at the window. The outdoor roof terrace is open to everyone, so even if you can’t sit right by the window, you still have plenty of opportunity to enjoy the view. But it was my experience that if you come in the late afternoon, you have plenty of opportunities to get a good table. We were lucky to get a table by the window.

In the evening (from 9 pm) DJS and bartenders transform the place into one of Amsterdam’s most energetic bars.
