Turquoise water, white sand, frolicking dolphins, rainforest and koalas sound like the ultimate Australian nature experience. Noosa National Park in the state of Queensland, located about 150 km north of Brisbane, is guaranteed to blow you away – it did me.
Why is the national park so special?
Just a stone’s throw from the national park is Noosa Head’s thriving town center with small shops, cafes, restaurants, hotels and beach. This means that a visit to the Noosa National Park can easily be combined with a little beach vacation.
But what really makes Noosa National Park special is the indescribable nature and unique Australian landscape that greets you. The park is easy to explore with marked hiking trails where you can find a suitable route regardless of age and fitness level.
Map of the different walking routes
Unfortunately, it had rained all day and since I only had 2 days in Noosa Heads, I only chose to walk part of the Coastal Walk route. At the same time, the high temperatures also made me want to go back to the hotel and enjoy the lovely pool 🙂
Any tips before you set off?
Check the route signs at the entrance to the national park. It tells you how long each route takes. Remember plenty of water, sunscreen, and preferably a hat to protect you from the baking sun. There is only one place where you can refill your bottle with fresh drinking water, so only go out on the routes if you have enough to drink.
Leave your sandals at the hotel and wear sneakers or hiking boots when you head out on the trails. Some of the routes can be quite hilly.
The first part of the Coastal Walk route to Dolphin Point is paved, making this part of the route accessible for strollers and people with reduced mobility.
Remember to look up
Noosa National Park is known for its koalas perched in the trees, so remember to look up as you walk around. Some areas are more popular, with signs pointing out that it’s a favorite place to see koalas. The best opportunities to spot them are as you move further into the national park itself.
Unfortunately, I didn’t see any while I was there, although I tried hard.

The perfect photo paradise
Noosa National Park is a paradise for insta-lovers (like myself J) and photo enthusiasts. Boiling Pot, Tea Three Bay and Dolphin Point are just some of the viewpoints where great photos can be taken.
