Transport to Phillip inS.country
You can choose to rent a car and drive down there yourself, or you can take one of the many travel waves that arrange bus trips down there. I was with the self that I had booked through a Danish travel agency from home. The trip was fine, but would probably prefer to be able to take the trip in your own car next time, as Phillip Island has a lot to offer.
Since the highlight of the trip is the penguins, you will typically take from Melbourne around noon and be back in the city around midnight. Departure will typically be from the Federation Square in the center of Melbourne.

Maru Koala & amp; Animal Park
Our first stop on the trip was Maru Koala & amp; Animal Park located approx. 30 min. Driving from Phillip Island itself. Here you could have a picture taken with a koala and experience many of the classic Australian animals. At the entrance you can buy a cup of special animal food that you bring into the park and then you can get very close to the kangaroos and feed them. The area is well -visited by many tourists, so many of the animals are well -eaten, but you may be lucky to see a few legs stick out of the scrotum on one of the kangaroos. Inside the area, they have kangaroos of all sizes that everyone loves to be cuddled behind the ears 🙂 To start with it required a little courage to go to the very big ones.
The Nobbies
When we came down to Phillip Island itself, we drove all the way out to the western tip of the island and stopped at a truly fantastic nature area called noobies. The noobies is an ecotourism destination where you can walk around the amazing natural surroundings through walking bridges and consider the breathtaking coastline.
Remember to look into some of the many incubators that are stored in the tall grass, maybe you will be able to see a dwarf penguin that is hiding in there until the dark makes it safe to get out. In the grass also hides gray geese which is characterized by their pale yellow beak.
Approx. 1 km from the coast are Seal Rocks which houses Australia’s largest colony of fur seals. If you want to experience them closer, you can buy special trips that go all the way out.
The entrance to the walkways is free.
Penguin parade
The highlight of the trip was clearly to see the penguins entering the beach Summerland Beach and wiped up the dunes for their nests. You have the opportunity to see the penguins in different ways. Blue. From the stands as most visitors do, but you can also see in a small group (max 10 people) see them very close to the beach along with a nature guide. My ticket was called Penguins Plus and gave access to an observation platform that was limited to 300 people. The platform is also on the most popular path and you can get very close to the penguins.
Penguin Parade is one of Australia’s biggest tourist attractions and no matter what time of year you come, you have to expect that there are a lot of tourists.
Due to the penguins coming in at sunset and to secure the penguins, it is forbidden to take pictures of the penguins themselves.
