In December, I visited London with my friend. We knew we were a little late compared to securing us a table in one of the popular places, which often requires ordering up to several months in advance.
But despite being quite late, we managed to get a table at The Chesterfield Mayfair one Saturday afternoon in the middle of December.
Elegant and relaxed atmosphere
We had booked a table until 1 p.m. 12.30 and we had therefore chosen to skip breakfast, which turned out to be a wise decision. You will be locked into teams in relation to when you have ordered a table. When we arrived we were welcomed by a doorman who welcomed our jackets. While we waited we could enjoy the beautifully decorated lobby which, on the occasion of Christmas, had a huge copy of the hotel standing in the middle of the lobby designed as a gingerbread house.
We were placed in the beautiful garden room where the green chairs and white dove helped create an elegant but also relaxing atmosphere. You can choose whether you want the traditional afternon tea or if you want to enjoy a glass of champagne.
The traditional afternoon tea costs ÂŁ 40 and ÂŁ 47 if you want it with champagne.
We chose the traditional one and it was really exquisite and then there was refill so you just have to get loose. Although I refer to myself as someone who is reasonably fond of sweet things, I actually managed to go completely in sugar shock, so much that we did not try all the cakes.
The Chesterfield Mayfair is a place where you can easily bring older children and you don’t have to fear being rejected in the door if you show up in sneakers or jeans. But for the sake of the experience, I would clearly recommend that you do a little of yourself before the visit.
The Original Sweetshop Afternoon Tea theme
At The Chesterfield Mayfair, they run with a concept where they are constantly changing the theme. A theme is used in approx. a year and a half before it is replaced. The theme when we were there and which will apply most of 2019 was inspired byHardy’s original Sweetshop. Among other things, there was an old -fashioned van where large glass jars were filled with all over the world’s selection of sweets. As part of the experience, all guests are allowed before they go, allowed to mix their very own little candy bag atThe Candy Man,As on the occasion of Christmas was dressed up as an Alf, whose prestigious and only job is to make sure you have a little extra sugar when you go.
How to find your way
The Chesterfield Mayfair are close to several of London’s well -known shopping streets and approx. 10 minutes walk from Piccadilly Circus. If you take London’s subway is the closest stop Green Park, from which there is only a few minutes walk.
It was really a nice and wonderful experience to eat afternoon tea at The Chesterfield Mayfair, which is clearly recommended.
